Inspect
We use RIDGID sewer camera equipment to examine the line for blockages, roots, damage, offsets, standing water, and other visible conditions.
San Diego County, California
Independent camera inspection, diagnostics, and cleaning for properties across San Diego County, from a company that documents the condition of the line and does not sell the repair.
Step 1 of 4
Independent sewer inspection & second opinions
A sewer backup or major repair recommendation can make a costly decision feel urgent. The Sewer Pros inspects and documents the condition inside your sewer line so you can understand what is actually happening before you approve cleaning, excavation, lining, or replacement.
Because we do not perform sewer repairs or replacements, we do not profit from selling you the work. Our role is to inspect and document visible conditions, explain what we found in plain language, and give you an honest opinion you can use to make the next decision.
Already received a repair recommendation? Bring us in for an independent second opinion before you sign off on major work.
We use RIDGID sewer camera equipment to examine the line for blockages, roots, damage, offsets, standing water, and other visible conditions.
We inspect and document visible conditions inside the line, so you are not forced to rely only on a verbal repair recommendation.
Use the findings to determine whether the issue calls for cleaning, monitoring, a repair estimate, or another qualified opinion, without pressure to buy a repair from us.
Do not approve a major sewer repair based only on a sales-driven recommendation. The Sewer Pros does not repair or replace sewer lines, by design, so we have no repair contract to sell. Get a documented second opinion before you approve the expense.

Homeowners
Slow drains, a backup that keeps returning, or a line nobody has looked at. A camera inspection shows the visible condition before anything is decided.
Common starting points
Buying or selling
A sewer scope before closing, so the condition of the line is documented while it can still inform the decision.
Useful for
Recurring problems
A line that has been cleared before and backed up again. Diagnosis looks for the reason rather than clearing it once more.

Specialized experience, clear findings
The Sewer Pros has served San Diego property owners since 2015, bringing a specialized, evidence-first approach to customers who need to investigate a drainage problem, evaluate a sewer line before buying a property, or understand the condition of a line before making a larger decision.
Our San Diego sewer services include sewer camera inspection, sewer cleaning, hydro jetting, sewer line locating, recurring sewer backup diagnosis, pre-purchase sewer inspection, and preventative sewer maintenance. We inspect accessible portions of the sewer line, document visible conditions on video, and explain what the footage shows in clear language.

Specialized experience across coastal, inland, and older inner-city properties throughout the greater San Diego region.
You receive recorded footage and understandable findings that can support cleaning, monitoring, property-purchase, or second-opinion decisions.
We inspect, document, locate, and clean. Because we do not perform sewer repair or replacement, the findings stay separate from the sale of a major repair.
What the camera shows

Roots may enter through joints or openings and reduce the usable area inside the line.

Accumulated material can narrow the pipe and interfere with normal drainage.

The camera may help identify visible debris or obstructions affecting flow.

Misaligned connections may be visible where one section of pipe meets another.

Water remaining in the line may indicate an area that is not draining as expected.

Accessible footage may show visible cracking, corrosion, or material deterioration.
When it helps
A sewer inspection can help when symptoms keep returning, when more than one drain is affected, or when you need documented information before making a property or maintenance decision. It can also help when the line needs locating before landscaping, excavation, or utility work, or when you want independent evidence before acting on a repair recommendation.

A camera inspection can help document the visible condition of a line that continues to back up after previous clearing.

When several fixtures are draining slowly, an inspection can help determine whether the concern may extend beyond one isolated branch drain.

Buyers can review recorded sewer-line evidence before closing instead of relying only on assumptions about a property’s underground systems.

Inspection findings can help property owners choose a maintenance interval based on observed conditions rather than a generic schedule.

Recorded findings can help property managers document recurring drainage concerns and communicate more clearly with owners or vendors.

A camera inspection can document accessible visible conditions when the age or history of a property raises questions about the sewer line.

Documented findings
The goal of a sewer camera inspection is to give you useful evidence, not simply tell you that a problem exists. The footage and documented findings provide information you can review, revisit, and share when considering what happens next.
Recorded footage
Video from accessible portions of the sewer line, captured during the inspection.
Documentation of visible conditions
What the camera showed inside the accessible line, recorded as findings rather than as a repair estimate.
A plain-language explanation
What the footage shows, described without trade shorthand.
Guidance on cleaning or monitoring
Whether the evidence supports cleaning the line, continuing to monitor a condition, or further evaluation.
Evidence you can keep
Material you can revisit or share when seeking a second opinion or making a later property decision.
You do not have to rely only on a verbal description. Recorded footage and documented findings give you information you can revisit, share, and use when deciding whether to clean the line, monitor a condition, or consult a separate repair provider.

A camera inspection of the accessible sewer line, documenting what is visible. It can help identify observed conditions and support an informed next-step decision.

Remove buildup and obstructions from sewer lines when cleaning is appropriate. A camera inspection can help document line conditions before or after cleaning.

Use high-pressure water to clean eligible sewer lines. Whether jetting is appropriate depends on the line’s observed condition.

Combine cleaning with visual documentation of the line. See what was observed and whether cleaning changed the conditions visible by camera.

Help identify the route of an accessible sewer line and locate a specific area when conditions allow. Useful when planning further evaluation or work.

Address buildup or blockages in drains serving sinks, tubs, and other fixtures. The service focuses on the affected drain and the reported symptoms.

Get a visual assessment of accessible portions of the sewer line before buying a property. The findings can help inform your due diligence.

Investigate recurring backups and document conditions observed during the inspection. Findings can help clarify what may be contributing to the problem.

Arrange sewer inspection or cleaning based on the line’s condition and service needs. Recommendations should be guided by observed evidence.
The City says the owner maintains the lateral all the way to its connection with the City sewer main, which can be in the street, an easement or a canyon.
We did not find an active City program that helps homeowners pay for lateral work, and the City says its crew lateral-installation program is currently suspended. For a break beyond the property line, the City’s process runs through a plumber’s call and a Plumber’s Report.
Sewer ownership, repair responsibility, and reimbursement policies can change. Confirm the current rules for the property address before authorizing work.
Local utility responsibility
Confirm which utility, water district, or sanitation authority serves the exact property, not the city it sits in.
Ownership, repair responsibility, permits, and assistance programs may vary by authority.
A sewer camera inspection can provide visible evidence before the owner contacts the applicable agency or a separate repair provider.
Possible assistance

The City of Carlsbad publishes a grant of up to $3,000 toward lateral replacement or rehabilitation for the Carlsbad Wastewater service area. Leucadia Wastewater District publishes a separate lateral grant, and we did not find one from Vallecitos Water District.
City of Carlsbad property-owner pageWe did not find a City lateral repair or grant program. The City’s sewer maintenance policy reimburses reasonable costs for qualifying stoppages only. See the Chula Vista page for what the policy says.

Assistance is not available uniformly across San Diego County. Program funding, property eligibility, covered work, and application requirements can change. Contact the appropriate local agency before relying on assistance when planning sewer work. Where no program softens the cost, the difference between a line that needs cleaning and a line that needs replacing is the whole decision.
Evidence-first sewer diagnostics
Every sewer inspection follows the same process, whether you are a homeowner dealing with a recurring backup, a buyer who wants to know what is in the line before closing, or a property manager scheduling preventative maintenance. We look, we document, we explain, and you decide.
We run a sewer camera inspection through the accessible line to see its actual condition, root intrusion, blockages, offset joints, bellies, or cracks, on video rather than relying on guesswork from symptoms alone.
The inspection is recorded and the findings are documented as we go, so what we observe in your sewer line is captured on video and in writing, not just described after the fact.
We walk you through the footage and explain what it actually shows in plain language, what is a maintenance issue a sewer cleaning or hydro jetting can resolve, and what may point toward a structural issue worth a second opinion.
You keep the video and the findings. That evidence is yours to use however you choose, to schedule cleaning or preventative maintenance with us, to get a second opinion, or to make an informed decision about a bigger repair with a contractor of your choosing. We do not sell sewer repair or replacement, so the decision about what happens next stays yours.
We are sewer and drain specialists: sewer camera inspection, sewer diagnostics, sewer cleaning, hydro jetting, sewer line locating, drain cleaning, and pre-purchase sewer inspection, all built around the same evidence-first process.

We did not find an active City program that gives homeowners a grant, reimbursement or other help with lateral costs, and the City says its program for City crews to install sewer laterals is currently suspended. The City says the property owner is responsible for maintaining the lateral all the way to its connection with the City sewer main. Confirm current terms with City Public Utilities.
It depends on your address rather than only your city. Some areas are served by a city utilities department and others by an independent special district: Vallecitos or Leucadia among them. Parts of Carlsbad fall under different providers than the rest of it.
They exist but differ by agency. We have confirmed a Carlsbad grant of up to $3,000. In most of the county, including the City of San Diego and Chula Vista, no grant was found. Chula Vista’s sewer policy reimburses reasonable costs for some stoppages only.
In every San Diego County jurisdiction we have researched, the property owner owns and is responsible for the lateral from the building to the main sewer line. The city or district typically maintains only the main line itself.
A sewer camera inspection can reveal visible conditions inside accessible sewer piping, including blockages, root intrusion, separated joints, offsets, cracks, standing water, and other observable pipe conditions.
A sewer camera inspection gives you documented evidence of the sewer line’s condition before you close. Ask your home inspector what their inspection covers. A sewer scope is a separate, focused inspection of the sewer line. This is especially useful given that San Diego’s own lateral-ownership rules mean the buyer takes on full responsibility for that line at closing. This is informational, not legal advice.
Not quite. Drain cleaning generally addresses individual fixture or branch-line clogs, while sewer cleaning addresses the main sewer line itself. We offer both, and a camera inspection can help identify which one actually addresses the problem you are experiencing.
No. We specialize in independent sewer inspection, diagnostics, and cleaning, evidence before assumptions, rather than repair or replacement work. If a camera inspection shows a problem that may need repair, we can help you understand what you are looking at so you can make an informed decision, without repair-driven pressure.
